About Us

Vinyl Signs of Whitby was started in 1996 by father and son duo John and Robert Lamerton.

Robert completed his City & Guilds Craft Certificate in Sign work in July 1994. The company started trading with a basic sign cutter and gradually built up its customer base within the Whitby area.

As the company grew, it was able to invest in a small printer-cutter, giving customers the option of full colour graphics on their signage.

The popular demand for digital printing continued and Vinyl Signs started to produce large format graphics using state of the art equipment and computer aided software. The company prides itself in keeping up to date with the latest industry developments.

In July 2021 Vinyl Signs celebrated 25 years in business, serving customers throughout Whitby, North Yorkshire and beyond. Continued dedication to high standards, fair prices and customer satisfaction will, we hope, lead to another 25 years of successful trading.

In 2013 Robert’s wife Maria joined the business, providing valuable assistance on larger jobs. In 2014, the purchase of a Rolls Roller flatbed applicator has given the company a leading edge in production times. Large scale orders are produced to a high standard, with the option to meet tight deadlines.

A recent addition is the Secabo heatpress. This equipment allows Vinyl Signs to offer printing on a range of substrates including fabrics such as T shirts, pencil cases and bags. A wide range of colours, and finishes including high gloss and glitter are all available.
